About Us
Welcome to Frida’s; glad you're here!
We invite you to come in, sit down, relax and enjoy a made-to-order meal from our scratch kitchen. As you peruse our menu, you may note that we approach things a little differently than the average eatery. “What kind of differences?” you might ask. Well...
Aside from making all of our recipes from scratch (we consider it a labor of love): Our kitchen is free of sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, MSG, butter, microwaves and more. We also use little to no oil in our cooking. We are confident your taste buds won’t know the difference, but your body will – and we bet you’ll feel it, too!
Frida’s is also an eco-friendly restaurant. Our napkins? They’re cloth, not paper. Our straws are paper too; we’ve used them since we opened. We contract with a local composting business to take all of our waste from food prep and guest remnants back to the soil, where it can work to produce more delicious fruits and vegetables for us to enjoy. It’s those little things that make a BIG difference.
We love our community and the surrounding St. Louis region and are dedicated in supporting the local economy. To that end, we work extensively with area farmers and suppliers. Our breads come fresh from Breadsmith and Companion. We use Double Star Farms, Earth Angel Mushrooms and a wide array of other local vendors. Best of all, working in this way allows us to maintain the integrity of our product: Bonus!
By the way: We don’t just love food, we love being and staying fit! Just around the corner you can find Pedal Pedal Cycling Studio, our indoor cycling studio. With the success of the restaurant providing us a platform, we wanted to form a healthier community in our own neighborhood: so we took the leap and now enjoy a host of regular clients and friends working out and eating healthily. If you are interested, please check the schedules online and sign up for a class!
Enjoy your Meal – Cheers!
Rick & Natasha
A little about Rick & Natasha (and Frida the Cat)
We are a husband and wife duo that loves food and health. Our restaurant is named after our feisty feline, Frida – named after Frida Kahlo, because she strolls with a limp. You can see a painting of her proudly displayed above the bar. (Yes, she’s still with us.)
We opened in July of 2012. Since those humble beginnings, we have expanded, not once, not twice, but three times. Over our almost seven years (Wow, seven years!) in business, we have been honored with over 25 awards for our cuisine and non-beef burgers.
Some of our Accolades:
A-List Dream Team: Chef / Owner, St. Louis Magazine
Guy's Grocery Games, Clash of the Vegetarians, Season 20 - Episode 1
Best Vegetarian Restaurant, RFT / Sauce Magazine
Best Vegan Menu, Alive Magazine
Best Vegetarian, Alive Magazine
Healthiest Restaurant, Fitness Alliance
Favorite Gluten Free, Sauce Magazine
Best Non-Beef Burger, RFT
James Beard Impact Program, St. Louis
